Embarking on Rio Leon’s Gastro tour in the stunning Golfo Dulce was like discovering a hidden treasure in Costa Rica’s Piedras Blancas National Park. Picture this: a secluded beach, swimming in calm ocean waters while a sumptuous meal being expertly prepared using organic produce from their farm, fish, and lobster caught by the guides. Their unique farm-to-tour concept made every moment come alive. The guides, Martin, Abraham, and Carlos, were passionate storytellers, making us feel like family. Carlos even stopped the boat whenever dolphins appeared, ensuring we didn’t miss a thing. The snorkeling sessions were breathtaking, with vibrant corals adding to the mesmerizing experience. Chef Hazel’s incredible sauces, especially her mango ceviche, delighted even our picky 5-year-old. Hazel’s support and encouragement helped our hesitant 5-year-old join in the snorkeling fun. The continuous supply of refreshing drinks added warmth to the entire journey. Rio Leon’s tour in Golfo Dulce is an absolute must for anyone seeking an extraordinary water adventure in southern Costa Rica. Trust me, words can’t capture the magic – it must be lived to be believed!

We had an incredible day with the crew of Rio Leon Tours. Nothing was too much for them. Pick up and drop off could be arranged wherever was most convenient for us, the boat is very clean and comfortable, huge ice cooler with fruit and drinks, a very knowledgeable local captain and great guide, picknick with homemade bread and farm fresh veggies served on a remote beach, snorkeling equipment available… and I haven’t started talking about the incredible experience of being amongst the whales yet! It was the most wonderful experience to find about ten different whales with their babies throughout the day (we even saw whales swimming by during our lunch on the beach). It’s hard to pick the most magical moment, but I would say the moment when Carlos turned off the motor and we could hear the sound (and vibration!) of the whales. I had never heard a whale before. Pure magic! The Golfo Dulce is one of a kind, a must see when you visit Costa Rica. And when you do, go with the best: Río Leon Tours. Thank you for everything guys, pura vida <3.

From the moment we stepped aboard, Martin, Brim, and Carlos were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They let us set the pace of the tour, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and personal. During the trip, we were lucky enough to see sea turtles, a pair of dolphins, a howler monkey, pelicans, a Jesus Christ lizard, and even a pair of scarlet macaws. It was an unforgettable mix of wildlife sightings! Despite booking the tour last minute, Martin stayed in constant contact with us, which we really appreciated. While my wife chose to stay on board, I went snorkeling—even though I can’t swim. Martin provided a life jacket and stayed in the water with me the entire time to make sure I felt safe. I ended up spending almost 20 minutes in the water, seeing all kinds of colorful fish and even a small jellyfish. As a vegan couple, we were especially touched by the effort Martin made to accommodate our diet. He surprised us with a delicious mango ceviche, fresh watermelon and papaya, and refreshing coconut water. Thank you for a wonderful experience and the great videos to remember it by. We highly recommend this private tour to anyone looking for a personalized, nature-filled adventure!
